“Mobilizing Women’s Voices around Food and Climate Justice in South Africa in Limpopo, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. (Supported by UN-Women)

Smallholder women farmers play an important role in providing food and to overcome hunger and poverty in South Africa. GenderCCSA is implementing this UN-Women Supported Project, with the aim of   enhancing  women farmers, cooperatives and groups to realize their rights to land tenure and climate justice; to ensure that women farmers have access to skills, resources, services, information and technologies for sustainable agricultural and productive activities; to ensure that women farmers are able to participate fully in the agricultural value chains and markets; to ensure that women farmers have access to finance and are able to adapt to climate change. The Project intervention   involves the mobilization, and capacity building and training of 120 women farmers, in Climate Smart Agriculture, Financial Management, and Access to Markets and the Value Chain.  Consultations  and Dialogues with  Smallholder women farmers and Traditional Leaders, and relevant Government Departments  and Funding Organisations will be  utilised to enable the women farmers to realize their rights to land tenure and climate justice; access to skills, resources, services, information and technologies for sustainable agricultural and productive activities; to participate fully in the agricultural value chains and markets; as well as have access to finance and are able to adapt to climate change, land rights and enhancing food security
